Children are expected to wear hair in a neat and acceptable style. Hair must be of one colour, and natural in appearance. Hair styles must not be cut below a number two.

The school expects that long hair is tied back – both boys and girls, to avoid accidents. Large hair accessories are not appropriate. Small hair accessories should be in school colours.

Children are expected to have a tidy hair cut with no tram-lines or markings cut into the hair or shaving of the head as this is not an appropriate school style. Tidy ‘plaiting’ styles reflective of culture are acceptable. Coloured hair extensions are not appropriate.

Jewellery must not be worn although Key Stage 2 children may wear a watch and children with pierced ears may wear one small stud earring in each ear lobe. These MUST be removed for PE on every occasion, even if the ears are newly pierced. We recommend that piecing is carried out in the summer holidays to allow time for the holes to heal. It is not possible to sign a form accepting responsibility for any accident if children continue to wear earrings as the danger may be to other children.

Make up, including coloured nail varnish and lip gloss is not to be worn.

The Headteacher reserves the right to make the final decision on what is or what is not appropriate.
