Wrap Around Care

Saint Mary’s Catholic Voluntary Academy offers a range of options for wrap around care for all of our children aged between 4 and 11 years of age.

All of our services are available Monday to Friday, term time only. There is no provision on school INSET days or during the school holidays.

We have a dedicated building ‘The Hub’ (formerly Pre-school) where children can be comfortably accommodated with access to outdoor play.

Once your child has been offered a place at Saint Mary’s school, you may register your interest in our range of services. The online registration form for Breakfast Club and SMASH is available here on our website above.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast club sessions run Monday to Friday from 7.30am, term time only. Children are given a healthy breakfast and have the opportunity to take part in various play activities.

Saint Mary’s After School Hub – SMASH

Our new after school provision ‘SMASH’ opened in September 2022 offering childcare between 3.15pm and 5.45pm, Monday to Friday, term time only in The Hub. Parents can collect their children at any time between 3.15pm and 5.45pm. SMASH provides parents with a safe, reliable and fun after school option.

Children are collected at the end of the school day by SMASH staff and are taken to ‘The Hub’ where they will be supervised at all times and encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities, both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting).

Food menus

The children receive a balanced breakfast including cereal, toast, a selection of fresh fruit and a drink.

In the afterschool SMASH provision, the children are offered a light tea between 4.15pm and 5pm. There will also be milk, water, fruit and yoghurt available daily at all times. The tea menu items will vary and include – ham wraps; crumpets with soft cheese; vegetable fingers, breadsticks and hummus; cheese and crackers; malt loaf and fruit scones.

Drop off and collection

The Hub can be accessed for early morning drop off by pressing the dedicated buzzer entry system on the main gate and then children should be brought to the front door of the building where they will be greeted by staff. Limited parking is available on the driveway but please show great caution and keep speed low.

If you need to speak with a member of the SMASH team, a dedicated phone line will be available between 3.15pm and 6pm, or call Saint Mary’s school at all other times on 01457 854473.

Behaviour

Both provisions will follow the school’s behaviour policy and expect children to behave appropriately. Children who continue to misbehave will be reported to school and parents will be informed. Persistent bad behaviour could result in your child losing their place in the club.
